Madeline has over 14 years experience as a corporate/commercial lawyer, advocate, arbitrator and accredited commercial mediator and dispute resolution specialist who specializing in providing corporate and commercial legal support, domestic and international arbitration, commercial mediation and dispute management.

Ms Kimei is currently on various panels including Chairperson for Arbitrations, European Commission; Shanghai International Arbitration Centre -SHIAC (2018-2021); Arbitrator on the Panel of SADC – AFSA; List of Arbitrators, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC); Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators (TIArb); and National Construction Council of Tanzania (NCC).  

She has acted as sole/presiding arbitrator in ad-hoc and cases administered by ICC, CRCICA and TIArb arbitration proceedings.

As Counsel in Arbitration, Ms. Kimei has represented clients in arbitrations relating to various sectors i.e. telecommunications; insurance; banking, real estate and mining.

Ms. Kimei is a serving Member, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration – Paris;  Member of the Accreditation Panel (Neutrals), Ministry of Constructional and Legal Affairs Tanzania; Member, Africa Users Council, Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC); Ambassador, ICC International Court of Arbitration, Africa Commission 2021-24; Member, Lagos Chamber of Commerce International Arbitration Centre, Court of Arbitration; President, Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators (TIArb) and Director at the Tanzania International Arbitration Centre (TIAC); Regional Director at CiADR;

Prior to establishing the practice in 2014, Ms Kimei was on the client side of the fence for over 5 years starting her career as in-house corporate counsel in the banking sector. Throughout this time, she searched for the standards that have now become core pillars of our mission – Commercially Savvy, Innovative and Low-Cost legal services.

Teddy Brown

Director, Workplace Management /Human Resources Specialist 
Teddy heads our Workplace and Human Resources Unit. He has over 14 years Human Resource management  experience in multi-sectorial industries including manufacturing, logistics and banking with extensive experience in private sectors across diverse industries, with expertise in the areas of equal employment opportunity, employee relations and conflict management. 
Teddy was part of the IR/ER Management team with TUICO (a trade union with industrial organization) with more than 4 years’ experience in IR/ER related issues particularly in industrial relation and labor law, collective bargaining i.e. Trade Union negotiations and management, ensuring harmony and engaged staff work force. 
dy also has vast experience in policy formulation and implementation, reward and recognition schemes, and overall general human resources management for multinational cooperation’s. Teddy also has vast experience in HR systems, Payroll systems, Employee information management systems, having worked with SAP (HCM) for over 6 years a world-renowned HR information system. 
Teddy provides for consultancies to several sectorial players on policy development and  implementation.



Virtual Intern

Aarti is an advocate and an accredited mediator in India and Bangladesh. Her practice focusses on civil litigation and dispute resolution. Ms. Goyal has represented the state and several private clients and companies.  Being a legal enthusiast, she is a mentor to students who wish to pursue the legal profession and conducts student outreach and development programs. She is also an executive member of the Africa Asia Mediation Association since 2019. Aarti holds a Masters in law degree from Columbia University school of law, New York, USA and a dual degree in Bachelors of law and Bachelors of commerce from Panjab University, Chandigarh, India.

Mercy Okiro is an Accredited Tutor and Assessor of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London) and the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration (NCIA) as well as an Adjunct Faculty Member at the Kenya School of Law. She holds a Master of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of Nairobi. She is awaiting the award of a Master of Laws degree in International Commercial and Investment Arbitration from the Queen Mary University of London. She holds professional qualifications in corporate governance, ESG issues, legal audits, and the resolution of sports disputes. She was feted in 2019 as the “The Young African Arbitration Practitioner of the year 2019”, was listed as one of Africa’s Most Promising Young Arbitrators 2020 by the Association of Young Arbitrators and was named as 2nd runners ADR Practitioner of the Year in 2021 by the Law Society of Kenya, Nairobi Branch.
